Spring Term in Galaxy Class

We are very excited about this term's topics - Marlborough & Beyond and Emergency

Year 2 have been very lucky to have had many exciting visitors coming into school to share their experiences with us. They have included the author of the Big Belly Oak - Barbara Townsend who read her favourite stories from her books. Barbara talked to the children about the writing process and they in turn got to ask her questions. We also welcomed Peter Noble the Antarctic explorer, the children were enthralled by Peter's presentation and even got the chance to speak Inuit and pretend to be a dog team!

Children answered the 'Big Question' in science 'Do the tallest children have the biggest feet?

Literacy - We are looking at the story of Ernest Shackleton's expedition to Antarctica using two texts: The Ice Trap and The Boss. These will be the stimulus for developing our grammatical skills and our creative writing.

Numeracy - We will use our topic as a stimulus for organising our maths lessons we will look at time, measure, temperature and money as part of organising an expedition.

Science - We are continuing with our topic on Humans and other animals which will include an exciting visit from The Explorer Dome!

Galaxy enjoy their first dance session.
